At the WABE Fall Institute you will find sessions related to our theme "Si Se Puede, Yes We Can"

  • We can integrate content learning and language development through the use of formative assessment practices, project-based learning, and intentional language routines.

  • We can apply WIDA standards and assessments into our instructional design cycle to include pre-assessment, instructional planning and delivery, evaluation and reflection. 

  • We can provide scaffolds to ensure comprehensible input and scaffolded language output.

Washington Department of fish and Wildlife (WDW) has created several units based on the state’s diverse flora and fauna.  This session will focus on “Washington Wildlife,” an integrated unit teaching English Language Arts and English language development using the WIDA ELD Standards Framework through a science lens.
